The snagging app for builders who'd rather be building

Photograph the defect, say what's wrong, send a branded PDF report before you leave site. No spreadsheets, no retyping notes in the van, no app-store download.

What a snagging app actually replaces

Most snag lists still start life the same way: a clipboard or a notes app on the walk-round, forty photos in the camera roll, and an evening at the kitchen table matching photos to notes and typing it all into a spreadsheet or Word document. By the time the list goes to the trades it's a day old, the photos are in the wrong order and half the locations say "see photo".

A snagging app collapses all of that into the walk-round itself. Each snag is captured once — photo, location, description, trade and priority together — and the report builds itself from what you've already recorded. That's the whole idea behind Site Snag Pro: the list you write on site is the report.

Six things a snagging app must do well

There are plenty of construction apps that can technically record a defect. The ones site teams actually keep using tend to get these six things right.

1. Be quicker than a notepad

If adding a snag takes longer than scribbling it down, nobody will use it past the first plot. In Site Snag Pro a snag is one tap to open the camera, one photo, and a short description. The location carries over from your last snag and trades you've already used are offered as you type, so walking round one flat you're mostly just taking photos.

2. Keep the photo attached to the snag

The photo is the evidence. It should sit next to the description in the list and in the PDF, not in a separate folder. Photos are shrunk on the phone before upload so they send quickly on a weak site signal and the PDF stays small enough to email.

3. Produce a report you're happy to send to a client

The PDF is what the client, the architect or the developer actually sees, so it needs to look like it came from your company. Site Snag Pro puts your logo, address, contact details and chosen colour on every page, with a summary of open and closed snags up front and each snag laid out with its photo underneath. There's no "made with" watermark.

4. Track open and closed without a second list

Snagging isn't finished when the list is issued; it's finished when every item is closed. Tick a snag as done when the trade has fixed it, and the next report shows what's still outstanding. Filter the list to just the open items when you're chasing, and each snag shows its trade so you can see who owes what.

5. Work for the whole team

On anything bigger than a single house, more than one person snags. Colleagues join your company with a six-character code and everyone works on the same projects, so the site manager, the assistant and the clerk of works are adding to one list rather than three.

6. Work on the phone you already have

Site Snag Pro runs in the browser on iPhone, Android, tablets and laptops. Add it to your home screen and it opens full-screen like any other app, with no store download and no IT sign-off.

How it works on a real walk-round

  1. Set up the project — name, site address, client and a reference. Takes under a minute.
  2. Walk the job — tap Add snag, take the photo, type or dictate what's wrong ("Wardrobe doors out of alignment, 6 mm gap at top"), pick the location and trade.
  3. Set priority — low, medium or high, so the trades know what's holding up handover.
  4. Create the PDF — one tap. It downloads to the phone, ready to email or WhatsApp to the trades or client.
  5. Close out — as items are fixed, tick them off. Re-issue the report to show what's left.

Who uses it

  • Site managers and main contractors running pre-handover snagging on housing, flats and fit-out.
  • Clerks of works and project managers inspecting on behalf of a client.
  • Small builders and renovators who want a professional close-out report without buying enterprise software.
  • Trades and subcontractors recording their own snag lists and showing work signed off.
  • Homeowners snagging a new build — see the room-by-room new-build checklist.

Questions

Does it work without signal?

You need a connection to save snags and upload photos, but photos are compressed on the phone first so a weak 4G signal is usually enough. Once your snags are saved, the PDF is built on the phone itself.

Can I use my own logo on the report?

Yes. Upload your logo in Settings, add your address and contact details and pick a colour. Every PDF carries your branding, not ours.

Do my trades need an account?

No. You send them the PDF by email, WhatsApp or text. Only the people adding snags need an account.

Is it an iPhone or Android app?

Both, and neither: it runs in the phone's browser, so there's nothing to download from an app store. Add it to your home screen and it behaves like a normal app.

Where is the data stored?

In a UK-hosted (London) cloud database, tied to your company account.
